The Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games arrived at White Cliffs Country in spectacular fashion on Thursday 7th July.
On Friday the relay starts at 08:00 at the Guru Nanak Dabar Gurdwara in Gravesend - the biggest Sikh temple in Europe.
Journeying from Deal to reach the imposing Dover Castle (England’s longest serving fortress), we announced the entrance of the Baton with a fanfare heralded from
the Great Tower, followed by sportingly- themed concert to a very enthusiastic audience.
The Queen’s Baton Relay then heads along the seafront from Deal to Walmer ending at the Borrow Pitt car park. Among the Batonbearers will be Kevin Brown and Nikki Smith from Deal, and Jamie Clark and Tim Hyde from Dover, each with an inspiring story and who have made a positive impact in the community through their contributions to sport, education, the arts, culture, or charity.
